Dak Bungalow, Whispering Willows, Zirakpur

Lots of new eateries have come up in Zirakpur since our last visit here. And the other day I found just the perfect place for a family dinner.

Dak Bungalow is a huge bungalow converted to a restaurant. In British India, dak bungalows were houses providing free accommodation to govt officials. They were also famous for their excellent food.

We reached the place at night, so not much of the garden area was visible. But from what I could see, the place looked beautiful. Interiors had a certain old world charm with ornate solid wood furniture and comfortable couches. Tables were spaced away from one another which was a good thing.

Disappointing food & service@ Toscano, Forum Mall

It’s quite rare that I get so disappointed with such a gorgeous place. We had a movie to catch on Saturday, and as usual some time to kill before that 🙂 A new outlet of Toscano had recently opened in Forum, at the same place where the once famous Sahib Sindh Sultan used to exist.

Both Toscano and Salt (Indian grill and bar) have a common entrance. The place was packed, but we got lucky and were quickly shown to the only empty table. The place looks beautiful and has perfect lighting. Bar section looks striking, decorated with an array of wine and cocktail glasses.

Gobsmacking food @Via Milano, Koramangala

Friday nights have become pizza nights of late. So this Friday, I started looking for unexplored places (I need new stuff to write, you see!), realized Via Milano was still pending and suggested we try it out.

Thankfully there was not much traffic (kinda surprising for a Friday night actually) and we reached early. We even found a parking place right in front of the restaurant, which is a rare thing in this city 🙂

The place has an old world charm to it. Whitewashed walls adorned with black & white portraits, plain classic wooden furniture and retro music make it look quite lovely.

Nachos etc @Eurasia Eurasia Pasta and Barbeque by Little Italy, Jayanagar

A certain hungry afternoon took to this eatery recently. I had heard good things about this place at work and was eager to try it out.

We went to first floor and there were a few tables outside, but it was warm, so we decided to sit inside.

Pasta Street, Cunningham Road

This is one of those places that makes you feel happy the moment you enter 🙂 They have 2 floors of seating and a narrow (but nice) seating area outside as well.
We went around lunch time and ground floor was almost full, so we moved to first floor. The ambiance is cheerful and nice.

Go Italia, Koramangala 4th Block

Came across this place on zomato while searching for Italian places.

I was expecting a different sort of ambience from what this place has. Anyway, we settled down and were served complimentary breads with garlic butter, both of which were delicious. They have a vast variety of italian dishes. We settled for rice & chicken croquettes, spinach delight pizza, and an iced tea. Continue reading
