Hoot, Sarjapur Road

I had been frequently working Hoot into our weekend conversations of “where do we go for lunch today?”. Mr. H finally gave in this weekend, and we went there for a late lunch 🙂

Hoot is a massive microbrewery located on Sarjapur Road and is a new addition to the rapidly expanding list of microbreweries in the city. It is spread over a whopping 40000 sq ft and resembles a warehouse or garage from outside.

I had seen some beautiful pictures of its striking ambiance on different websites and blogs, and was looking forward to visiting it.

Muffets and Tuffets, Koramangala

Muffets & Tuffets is a beautiful cafe in Koramangala that derives its name from an old nursery rhyme called “Little Miss Muffet“. We went here for lunch this weekend and had some surprisingly good food.

They have a big menu with loads of stuff to choose from, everything from sandwiches, burgers, salads to delicious sounding mains. There is also a very tempting dessert counter which is not to be missed 🙂 The cafe has decent amount of seating and is very quiet & peaceful. Seating is very comfortable and service is pretty good.

Biryanis from Readybowl

Readybowl is an online food delivery service that started last year with a focus on biryanis. It serves food by the kilo and has now added different curries and starters also to the menu.

I recently received an email from Readybowl’s founder to try out their food. They claim that they don’t use any artificial coloring agents or preservatives, which is great! I was pretty much in a biryani mood yesterday, and decided to try out some.

Aroi, Sarjapur Road

Aroi means delicious in Thai, and this place truly lives up to its name. We decided to visit it for lunch over the weekend, climbed four flights of stairs(totally worth it!), and had some amazing food.

The place looks simple yet beautiful and overlooks Kaikondrahalli lake near Sarjapur Road. They have plenty of seating and we decided to take a table outside that had a nice view of the lake.

BonSouth, Koramangala

This place had been on my list for a long while, but we never got around to visiting it for some reason or the other. Over the long weekend, we decided to tick it off our list and went for lunch. But I was on one of my vegetarian streaks, and didn’t try out any of the non-vegetarian fares 🙂

BonSouth looks like a big village house with whitewashed walls and a mini garden. There’s a waiting area outside lined with cushions that add just the right pop of colour. The place is huge with plenty of seating available, both indoor and outdoor.

Murphy’s Brewhouse, Domlur

Bangalore has its fair share of microbreweries, and after having visited quite a few of them I can say this place probably has one of the best brews(Windmills Craftworks still tops my list though :)).

The much awaited long weekend was finally here and after some convincing, Mr. H agreed to go towards the crowded end of intermediate ring road 🙂 He loathes the traffic towards Indiranagar, but thankfully it turned out to be smooth (thanks to the long weekend!).

The Bangalore Pantry, Indiranagar

An unexpected and interesting find! The Bangalore Pantry looks just like a college canteen and has a very interesting menu. We had actually planned for Glen’s Bakehouse that was long pending and after no food and some really bad experience there, we thought of going to Toit. And as luck would have it, Toit turned out to closed! And then I guess the food gods took pity on us and I noticed the board for Bangalore Pantry.

The place doesn’t look very appealing from outside with its scary metal staircase. The decor doesn’t have much except for plain wooden tables, some wooden benches and metal chairs. We were contemplating whether to stay or go when the gracious owner lady showed us to our table. The place has some old style switches, not sure if they are intentional, but they surely did bring back memories of my ancestral house in Bengal 🙂
