HSR is gradually becoming the new Koramangala with a slew of new restaurants, pubs and cafes. And this watering hole is a new addition to the area’s bustling food scene.
I was always curious about this place because of its name, and was very happy when Mr. H suggested it for lunch this weekend so that I could tick it off my list 😀
Their menu says the place is not named after the lower house of parliament in UK. It is called “House of Commons” in a more literal sense, a place which welcomes anyone and everyone 🙂 The establishment is spread over two floors, with plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating.
Weekends always turn both of us into gluttons, not that I’m complaining 🙂 And since it’s a mandate to have pizza on Friday/Saturday, we ordered from good ol’ Domino’s after noticing high delivery times for other places.
After polishing down food from Domino’s with some beautiful Sula Dindori Reserve Shiraz(yes, wrong pairing I know!), we felt the need to have something spicy.
And so I placed an order from Empire, HSR for dosa chicken. Hubby of course being mostly vegetarian, opted for jeera rice and paneer butter masala.
After dinner at Pind Balluchi, we decided to have ice creams at Gelato in Garuda Mall. But the person there seemed completely uninterested so we came back to HSR Layout’s Polar Bear for some.
They have a big menu with loads of individual scoops, sundaes, ice cream sandwiches, shakes etc. We got a scoop each of tender coconut, jackfruit, butterscotch and coffee brazilia.
I had never imagined getting decadent brownies at a place which mostly serves Turkish and Arabian food, but we’ll get to that later 🙂 I had been meaning to visit this place for a while now, and finally managed to yesterday.
Their menu has mostly non-vegetarian fares, and I got myself a chicken doner wrap. And while it was getting prepared, I noticed brownies on display and picked up one 😀 They also have a very tempting waffle counter, which I plan to try out next time.
It’s hard to reach a consensus at home when everyone wants to have something different for dinner 😀 Yesterday night, “Sizzling Monk” came to our rescue; it had something to please everyone’s tastbuds. The place has recently opened(not more than a week old I suppose) and boasts of an interesting menu which has everything from Chinese, pizza, pasta to sizzlers, shakes etc.
It’s good to see HSR Layout rapidly evolving as a foodie’s delight. I always used to complain about it not having enough places that serve good Chinese food, but it’s not the case anymore, thanks to places like Sizzling Monk. Before entering here, I also spotted a ‘Cream & Fudge’ outlet right next to it and decided to have desserts there post dinner 😀
Happy New Year!
I didn’t try out any new places post 25th Dec last year, but spent my last week going to my usual favourites and putting on some extra kilos 🙂 Well…
Past couple of days however, I was getting a major biryani craving and though I absolutely love Hyderabadi biryani, the spices don’t get along quite well with my tummy 😦 So I was trying to pacify my cravings looking at the tempting pictures of it 😛 Last night, I eventually gave up and ordered a biryani for dinner.
Baithak translates to “living room” or “lounge”(in a more formal sense) in Hindi, and is indeed built like that. I noticed this place last week when I went to Tea Trails, which is located right opposite to it.
The place looks quite beautiful with some gazebos for group seating, and lots of smaller sized tables. Special note to ladies, don’t go to this place wearing your pretty heels, all the floors(outside and inside) are covered with sand and you’ll have a difficult time walking around 🙂
