Last weekend we visited this beautiful microbrewery called “Bangalore Brew Works”, that had been on my list for ages(I think I say that about a lot of places :)). The place is located on the tenth floor of a commercial building on Residency Road and is a wonderful place to relax & unwind.
We had a reservation and were promptly shown to our table. The place has a very simple decor with solid wood furniture in rich colors. And, though most of the area gets a lovely breeze, there is a section with couches towards the edge of terrace which provides a stunning view of the city.
We started off our evening with a sampler set and our staples – onion rings and nachos 🙂 Servers here are well-trained and polite, and service is efficient. Our sampler set arrived with around seven brews and food followed soon after. Here’s how I liked them:
Onion rings: These were chunky rings with delicious batter and seasoning, well fried and served with a cheese dip. I usually don’t like very thick onion rings, but these were nice.
Nachos: These were the usual doritos, topped with a generous helping of sour cream, salsa, jalapeno, melted cheese and olives. Tasted decent.
Sampler set: There were around seven brews, and I remember only a few of them now 🙂
- Majestic wheat: A fresh tasting simple brew. Hubby quite liked it.
- Commercial stout: This was a robust stout with gorgeous aroma of roasted coffee. I quite like stouts and loved this one too.
- Strawberry flavoured brew: Don’t remember the exact name, but this was a light brew with strawberry flavours. None of us is a fan of strawberries, so this was not so much of a hit 🙂
Mr. H decided to have a pint of majestic wheat and I asked for the stout.
Though we were nearly full after the hefty appetizers, we decided to try out their wood fired pizzas. We selected their “very veggie pizza”; I asked for another pint of stout and hubby took a long island.
Very veggie pizza: It was indeed a “very” veggie pizza. The crust was perfectly baked and was loaded with onions, corn, mushrooms, bell peppers and black olives. I wish they had used mozzarella instead of regular cheese, but I won’t complain since the pizza tasted decent.
Long island iced tea: Mr. H said he was quite happy with this cocktail, it was not overly sweet and tasted nice.
All in all, we had a delightful evening. I found the food mediocre and only some of the brews remarkable, but the ambience more than made up for it. Will I go back? I think I will, for the ambience 🙂
And I must mention their spotless washrooms too, since most of the lounges don’t pay much attention to them.
