Baithak translates to “living room” or “lounge”(in a more formal sense) in Hindi, and is indeed built like that. I noticed this place last week when I went to Tea Trails, which is located right opposite to it.
The place looks quite beautiful with some gazebos for group seating, and lots of smaller sized tables. Special note to ladies, don’t go to this place wearing your pretty heels, all the floors(outside and inside) are covered with sand and you’ll have a difficult time walking around 🙂
Baithak’s menu is quite interesting with a mix of North Indian, continental, street food, a little bit of Chinese and a wide variety of beverages. We took a table outside, and placed an order for herb chicken in lemon basil sauce and a veg sizzler with black beans & chilli garlic sauce in spaghetti served with rice.
Our initial decision to sit outside turned out to be a little problematic due to way too many flies around. And after spending some time trying to ward them off, we finally moved to one of the tables inside. Service was extremely slow even though the place wasn’t full, and our order took more than half an hour to arrive.
After a long wait, both our dishes appeared at our table. I loved the cheese sauce of my herb chicken dish, it was perfectly seasoned and tasted divine. Can’t find any faults there, it was cheesy and sinful. Chicken was a tad overcooked and had become tough, but I didn’t really mind since the sauce was so good and I was starving 😀 The dish came long with a generous portion of yummy mashed potatoes and grilled veggies.
Veg sizzler was spectacular, all the elements were perfectly cooked and seasoned. It had a big patty made of cottage cheese and mozzarella, which tasted incredible. Baked beans had just the right amount of sweetness and spaghetti was also excellent. Mr. H loved it and so did I.
A lovely meal and I will certainly go back, but with a different footwear next time 😀 Hope they do something about the flies and slow service.
