I had seen some beautiful photos of this place on different websites, and when hubby suggested it for lunch, I agreed immediately. But going so far for lunch, I thought the place better be good.
Malgudi vattika is spread over a large area and is covered with lush greenery. They have basic wooden furniture, which looks quite charming. The place reminded me of my village actually 🙂
They have a separate section for a-la-carte North Indian and South Indian food, and for South Indian meals. We opted for meals and bought tokens for jowar thali (thali with jowar roti) and poori thali (pooris instead of jowar roti).
We were served with a big thali soon, which looked very tempting.
But my eyes fell upon the delicious ghee laden coconut holige and chilli bhajji on the side plate.
The thali had myriads of dishes, some sprout salads, different kinds of rice, sambar, rasam etc. I quite liked the puliyogare, rasam and one of the sprout salads which had grated coconut. Buttermilk was refreshing and not very spicy.
Holige was outstanding, and stuffed generously with coconut and jaggery. It was undoubtedly the best part of my meal.
We also ordered for filter coffees afterwards, and I asked for another holige along with the coffee 😀 Coffee was strong and quite nice, loved it.
After a short photo session, we left the restaurant 🙂 I wouldn’t recommend this place if you are looking for excellent food; but do visit this eatery for its charming ambiance, something we don’t get inside the city.
