Yay! Hubby finally agreed to drive to Indiranagar for lunch (maybe due to my relentless requests :P). But the place we were were planning to visit had no valet parking, and finding a parking place in Indiranagar is a challenge.
Habanero was nearby and we decided to stop there since it had valet parking. Their Koramangala outlet is closed now, and there are no other Mexican places in that area. This one looked like a rustic village house with minimal decor consisting of tiles etc.
We were starving, and ordered for a red wine Sangria pitcher, grilled veggie quesadilla and macho nachos. Service was quick and everything arrived soon.
Sangria tasted nice, though somewhat watery. They had put large pieces of apples in the drink, so it was a little difficult to have them.
Quesadillas were well stuffed with veggies and cheese. Nachos were crisp and generously topped with beans, guacamole, sour cream, seasoned tomatoes, onions and jalapenos. I loved both of them.
For main course, hubby ordered refried beans & grilled vegetables enchiladas and I asked for peri-peri grilled chicken.
Grilled chicken had a delicious glaze, although it was a much sweeter version of peri peri sauce. I wonder why they didn’t use the actual peri peri sauce! It was accompanied by mashed potatoes, grilled zucchini and sauteed broccoli.
Chicken was overcooked and had become hard and chewy. Potato mash was lovely and seasoned well. Grilled and sauteed veggies were disappointing, none of them had any salt or seasoning whatsoever. Corn on the cob was almost raw and way too hard.
Enchiladas looked delicious and tasted even more so.
Re-fried beans filling was a little spicy but tasted yum. Cheese sauce was gooey and absolutely delicious. Rice, salad and sour cream were served on the side. Salad was nicely seasoned, and rice was average.
Some of their dishes need improvement, but overall we had a decent lunch and service was also fine, kinda makes me wonder why the place was deserted. I would like to go back if I’m in the area.
