This is probably one of the legendary places in Bangalore, but somehow we never got around to visiting it. Last time we came here, there was no parking available on the street, and we had to go somewhere else.
Today, however, was our lucky day! We reached around 2:30, found parking and a table too 🙂
The place is somewhat dimly lit, decor is simple (felt a little outdated actually). I liked the menu, since they had plenty of choices apart from the usual rice and noodles.
I was ravenous, and we quickly ordered for a manchow soup and shaolin sticks. Service was fast, and our soup arrived soon. It was topped with the usual dose of crispy noodles and tasted good. Shaolin sticks were mashed and skewered vegetables, covered generously with chilli sauce and flakes. Portions were good and the sticks were well done with a nice crunch.
For main course we ordered veg kung fu rice and chicken kung fu rice. Our server was well informed and explained the dishes well. Our food arrived in big bamboo steamers. Both the dishes had rice with brown gravy, veggies, tofu and chicken for the non-veg version. I absolutely loved the brown gravy, melt in your mouth tofu and sauteed veggies. Gravy was not hot, had just the right flavours and tasted delicious. Would have loved to see some more chicken though.
We quite enjoyed our meal, and the main course portions were so big, that we eventually had to get most of it packed. This just the perfect place to get your desi chinese fix 🙂 I am definitely going back for more.
