Team lunch after a long time! After lots of discussions on a long list of suggestions, we decided on Buff Buffet Buff since it was closest to office and not tried yet.
We made a reservation and reached around 1:00 pm. The restaurant occupies the ground floor of Blue Petal Hotel, which is located on the very busy JNC road. It’s quite spacious and the decor is neat & simple. The first thing you’d notice upon entering the restaurant, is their attentive staff.
We started with soups and I really liked my mushroom and corn soup. It was creamy, subtly spiced and delicious. They had some mocktail choices in their buffet menu, I asked for a peach iced tea.
All the servers were very attentive, but not overly so. They have a pretty big spread of appetizers. I am vegetarian on Tuesdays :D, so couldn’t try any of their non vegetarian fares.
My peach iced tea (I had requested for less sugar) arrived loaded with sugar, one sip and I thought I’d get diabetes!
Among the starters, nothing really stood out for me. To mention a few, hara bhara kebab, and veg seekh kebab were good, crispy cauliflower tasted nice, paneer was a little chewy and cispy potatoes were not that great. They had a mongolian barbecue counter too, for stir fried noodles and rice with an assortment of veggies.
Among the dishes in their main course spread, I loved the baked vegetables. It was well baked, gooey and cheesy. Dahi bhallas were fresh and soft, loved them. Malai kofta tasted kind of floury. Everything else was pretty average, nothing really special.
Dessert spread was disappointing, party because there was not much variety and partly because of the taste. I tried the mousse, which was rather heavy and flat.
The whole experience was average at best, guess that explains the low prices. The place is definitely good for big gatherings. If you are looking for a big spread which is easy on your pocket, this is your place. Don’t go here expecting gourmet delights.
