Another place which was long pending on my list. Reached here on a gloomy Sunday afternoon without reservation and was surprised to see it packed!
The place looked beautiful with wooden interiors. They had long wooden benches as well as individual tables.
There was no one manning the reservation desk, so we moved on and tried to find someone who could get us a table. We asked one of the servers who looked somewhat clueless and drifted off in another direction. Finally a lady came and said it would take 5-10 minutes.
We eventually spotted a vacant table and settled there. There were 3 different sections , all of which were quite spacious and charming. Their deck lounge was booked for a private party, so couldn’t explore that, but the other outer section looked quite nice. They were playing 70’s and 80’s English hits, but amidst all the chatter I couldn’t listen to the music properly. Not that I’m complaining about it! 🙂
I had read lots of good reviews about “phat abbott”, but couldn’t spot it on their menu. Actually the whole menu looked quite different from what’s published on Zomato! Their drinks menu had only some classic cocktails, and the one on Zomato has so many of them 😦
We ordered for a Hefeweizen beer, classic margarita and veggie nachos. Drinks appeared soon, but nachos took quite a while to arrive. Service here is kind of slow, and the servers try to avoid you. They definitely need more servers for the amount of crowd they get.
Margarita was well mixed and tasty, and beer was decent too.
Nachos were house made, and generously covered with toppings that consisted of gouda cheese, caramelized onions & zucchinis, jalapenos, re-fried beans, sour cream and guacamole. They tasted nice, but there was way too much zucchini in it (I hate zucchini unless it’s zucchini chips :D). Beans didn’t taste that great, the only saviour was cheese and guacamole. The portion was pretty big though, and we eventually got bored with it 😛
Next we ordered “southern fried chicken fingers”, which again took a while. And boy, they sure were the worst chicken fingers ever! They lacked any taste whatsoever, and even felt a bit raw at places.
Having said all that, I really do want to go back, since the place looks so good and there’s so much more I want to try! Hope the food and service is better next time.
