Ginger chai & pakoras @What’s in the name, HSR

Sunday evenings usually find both of us in grumpy moods (thanks to the infamous Mondays). So in an attempt to cheer ourselves, we decided to go out for some coffee.

“What’s in the name” is a small cafe in HSR. It has got beautiful wooden furniture and filled with knickknacks.

The place had no open windows, so felt a bit suffocating at times.

For a cafe, it had hardly any varieties of coffee, but had a proper food menu. There was a big blackboard with the menu written on it. Our server gave us a tab to order, which had a photo of the same blackboard. And the tab ran out of battery while we were looking at the menu 😛

So we eventually resorted to looking at the menu on Zomato. We ordered for 2 cups of ginger chai and paneer pakoras. Looking at the menu and out-of-work tab, I had already started thinking of this place as a lost cause, when our snacks and teas arrived.

Tea was served in small glasses, like the ones you get in canteens. It was perfect with less sugar and less milk, just the way we had requested. Both of us were quite pleased with it.

Portion of paneer pakoras was huge. The batter was mildly spiced and delicious. Cottage cheese chunks were fresh and soft. We eventually couldn’t finish the whole thing and got it packed.

The owner personally came to check if we liked everything, which was a nice gesture. Our check came in a mini milk can (nice touch!)

Nice place, but I wouldn’t call it a cafe exactly. It’s more like a restaurant, that also serves tea/coffee. They could do something about the ventilation also.

Ginger tea is highly recommended.
