Surprisingly, even after spending so many years in bangalore and being a bong, I had never visited a bengali restaurant for an actual meal. I always used to feel that no restaurant can beat home made(read mom made) bengali food.
However over the weekend, after my husband(not a bong) showed particular interest in trying out typical bengali food, we visited this place for takeaway.
I was excited to see a reasonably big menu and low prices. The place is spread over 2 floors, and has decent amount of seating.
We ordered for luchis, aloor dom, bhetki kalia and dhokar dalna. The place might feel a little stuffy for people who are vegetarians or not used to the smell of fried fish. I was happy to see that our food arrived pretty quick.
Quantities of dishes were less compared to the usual amounts you get in other restaurants. Probably that explains the lower prices.
All the items were almost half filled with oil which was very disappointing. Let me assure all the people unfamiliar with bengali cuisine, bongs DO NOT eat so much oil!
Taste was average at best. Bhetki was probably cooked for too long and had become almost mushy. Aloor dom was just okay. Dhokar dalna could have tasted better, had there been less amount of oil floating in the container.
Disappointed with the taste and won’t recommend this place.
